Working at Chudleigh’s
You can’t make the perfect apple pie without the right mix of ingredients, and you can’t make a great company without the right mix of people. For more than 50 years, Chudleigh’s has been an important part of people’s lives. Our success hinges on the innovative, dedicated, and inspiring individuals who make up our team, and who pride themselves on making every Chudleigh’s experience sweet.
Today, we do our baking in a modern 110,000 square foot bakery, five minutes down the road from our family farm. With 200 dedicated full-time employees, we make delicious desserts for customers across North America and beyond!
Eric and Marion Chudleigh began running a modest apple farm back in the 1950s. Like the amazing tree that bears the delicious fruit, Chudleigh’s has matured and grown to become a thriving, multi-faceted company. The business makes a variety of delicious products distributed around the globe, while also welcoming countless guests through its doors each season to see how the farm creates its magic.
“When my parents (Tom and Carol Chudleigh) took over, they continued the farming practice but started inviting people on the farm to pick their own apples,” says co-owner Dean Chudleigh, the grandson of the founders. “The third generation, my brother Scott and myself, we took all of the products we sold those customers and started selling them to restaurants and grocery stores all over the world.”
Throughout the generations, Chudleigh’s has remained rooted in family. The foundational principles are as relevant as ever, making it an amazing place to enjoy a career.
“We have to spend more time at work than our home, so our goal has always been to make this work home fun, engaging, and overall, a positive place to be,” says Sukhdeep Legha, Chudleigh’s Senior Manager of People & Culture. “People are the heart of our organization, so we strive to create many moments of happiness for all of our employees.”
At Chudleigh’s, happiness can come in a variety of forms. It begins with an open and inclusive culture – and includes numerous things to look forward to. Be it monthly catered lunch celebrations, amazing health care packages for staff and their families, employee sales, cultural events, or easy access to quality safety shoes, there are always great incentives.
